TechKnowledge(R) Conference and
Exposition

The event for E-learning to Take Place in Las Vegas, February 4 - 7

(Alexandria, VA) November 16, 2001 - The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) announces ASTD TechKnowledge(R) 2002 Conference and Exposition, which will be held in Las Vegas, NV, February 4-7 at the Las Vegas Hilton. At this conference, co-sponsored by The Society for Applied Learning Technology (SALT), attendees will have the opportunity to discover the truth about how e-learning really works in organizations and what the future holds for this learning revolution. Real-world examples will provide insights into what's working and where caution is recommended.

Pre-conference workshops are February 4, the EXPO takes place February 5-6, and the conference sessions are February 5-7. The conference sessions are divided into six tracks, geared for different levels from those who are starting to explore e-learning to those that have had a successful track record with e-learning and want to learn more.

Representatives from American Airlines, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Burger King, Cisco, Digital Think, Harvard Business Online, IRS, Oracle, University of Phoenix Online, and others, will present either 60 or 90 minute sessions, sharing their experiences with e-learning and how it has impacted their organizations. In total, more than 90 sessions will be offered to attendees.

Well-known futurist and author, Michael Dolence, will focus on the evolution and future of training and perpetual learning in an "e" world during his opening keynote session on Tuesday, February 5. "Learning from the Games Generation" will be the topic of the February 7 closing keynote session by Marc Prensky, known for his expertise in game-based learning.

The EXPO will showcase the latest e-learning technologies and services from a host of training suppliers. Attendees are also encouraged to experience the Creation Stations where they can learn how to create unique PowerPoint templates, use GIFs, JPEGs, streaming video, and more.

The ASTD TechKnowledge community will reconvene during the 2002 conference to continue its interactive learning experience to share opinions and thoughts about the conference, topics, and industry issues. Attendees of the ASTD TechKnowledge 2001 Conference and EXPO provided feedback about their favorite topics and speakers and based on their input, ASTD created sessions and experiences for ASTD TechKnowledge 2002 that are targeted to attendees' needs. In addition, live Web chats with ASTD TechKnowledge presenters are taking place from November 2001 through January 2002. Check the ASTD TechKnowledge Website for more details.
